Pēteris Dajevskis ziņo, ka ir patīkami pārsteigts, ka saņēmis “Baumaņu grant” stipendiju no Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS), lai izgatavotu video projektu kopā ar video mākslinieci Māru Pelēci par Filadelfijā iebraukušajiem latviešu izcelsmes imigrantiem no 1890. līdz 1940. gadam – tā saucamajiem “veclatviešiem” – kas iebrauca un apmetās ASV posmā pirms otrā pasaules kara. Filmu (10-12 min. garu) paredzēts izrādīt AABS konferencē University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana 2026. gada 30. maijā. Otra izrāde paredzēta Latvijas Nacionalajā bibliotēkā 2026. gada 17. septembrī pasākumā, kur LNB atzīmēs ASV 250 gadu jubileju.
Guntis Lauzums piedalās ar diviem foto darbiem “Art of Demolition” un “Froedtert Malt” PhotoSpiva 2026 National Photographic Competition and Exhibition, Spiva Center for the Arts, Joplin, MO, no 2026. gada 14. marta līdz 2. maijam.
Gunti arī uzaicināja izstādīt 12 foto darbus “Artistic Representations of Aging” pasākumā Viskonsīnas valsts universitātē Milvokos, 2026. gada 10. aprīlī.
MMM 2026 koprīkotaja Sarma Muižniece Liepiņa ziņo, ka Bostonā jau sesto reizi grupiņa entuziastu rīko latviešu "Māksla meklē mājas: MMM2026". Gleznas un citi mākslas darbi, kas reiz jau karājās kādās - parasti latviešu - mājās, nu meklē jaunas mājas. Tirgus rit trīs dienas. Ienākums tiek izmantots Bostonas Latviešu nama pie Trimdas draudzes uzturēšanai. Šogad starp publikai piedāvātajiem apmēram 130 mākslas darbiem bija ALMAs biedru Ingas Dankeras, Ginta Grinberga (skulptūra), Ivara Sproģa un Aivara Zandberga darbi.
Aivars Zandbergs ziņo, ka saņēmis pirmo vietu akrila tehnikas kategorijā un trešo vietu fotogrāfijas kategorijā konkursā, kas norit kā daļa no Franklin Art Association ikgadējās izstādes, kas šogad notika Norfolk Public Library (Norfolk, MA) telpās no 5. aprīļa līdz 1. maijam.
Peter Dajevskis writes that he is pleased to have received the “Baumanis grant” from the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS) for a video project, together with videographer Māra Pelēcis, documenting Latvian immigrants to the Philadelphia area in the years 1890--1940 ---the so-called “Old Latvians” --- who preceded the generation of refugees that settled in the U.S. after World War II. The film (about 10-12 min.) will be shown at the AABS conference this spring at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, on May 30, 2026. The film will also be shown at the Latvian National Library in Riga on September 17, 2026, at an event celebrating 250 years since the founding of the U.S.
Guntis Lauzums showed two works, “Art of Demolition” and “Froedtert Malt,” at PhotoSpiva 2026 National Photographic Competition and Exhibition, Spiva Center for the Arts, Joplin, MO, from March 14 – May 2, 2026.
Guntis was also invited to show 12 of his works at an arts event “Artistic Representation of Aging” at University of Wisconsin Milwaukee on April 10, 2026.
At the 6th annual "Art Seeks a Home" in Boston, Latvian artwork from estates or artwork that that has been displaced by moves or downsizing finds new homes. Among the approximately 130 publicly offered artworks this year were some paintings, watercolors and a sculpture by current ALMA members: Inga Dankers, Gints Grinbergs, Ivars Sproģis, and Aivars Zandbergs. This event is a fundraiser for the upkeep of the Latvian Community Hall.
Aivars Zandbergs writes that he received first place in acrylic painting and third place in photography at the Franklin Art Association Annual Art Exhibit at Norfolk Public Library (Norfolk, MA), April 5 to May 1, 2026.
